Works sent in for certification can be classified as one of two options: Art and Non-Art. The certifications are provided as a hard-copy certificate, signed by an EACO official.
On request EACO also provides an extra unsigned certificate for archiving purposes.
Note: Unsigned certificates have no legal validity.
Art Certificate
An example is given below of a work being positively certified as EACO Certified Art.
EACO received a work on the 5th of October 2009. This work consisted of an oil painting. Size: 15 cm x 20 cm. Title: Zehn kleine Männer. It has been acknowledged and certified as art, and has thus received certification status: Art. On the 16th of December 2009 the EACO art detector announced the work eligible for certification as a true artwork.
The work received EACO European Certification: Art on the 17th of December 2009.
Non-Art Certificate
If your work is not considered certifiable art by the EACO, you will receive certification stating this outcome. An example is given below of a work being negatively certified as EACO Certified Art, and thus receiving the EACO Certified Non-Art-certificate.
EACO received a work on the 5th of October 2009. This work consisted of an oil painting. Size: 15 cm x 20 cm. Title: Zehn kleine Männer. It has not been acknowledge as art, and has thus received certification status: Non-Art. On the 16th of December 2009 the EACO art detector announced the work not in any way eligible for certification as an artwork.
The work received EACO European Certification: Non-Art on the 17th of December 2009.
